New Camera!!!

I know, about time right? Yesterday I got my camera, an Olypmus E-PM1 in pink. Yes, pink. It's a Micro Four Thirds camera, so it's basically a DSLR minus the mirror. It's small, pink, and takes pretty pictures. Exactly what I want ♥ Here are some pictures that I took with it:

Pop Art
Soft Focus

Grainy Film

Pin Hole

Diorama

Dramatic Tone

Those are the different art filters in the camera. I love Dramatic Tone and Pop Art!

In the next photo I was playing around with the Blur Background feature:
I really like this feature!!
Here are some more pictures I took with it:

Now, for pictures of the actual camera:

It's so pink!!!! I love it, the fast action on it, is really nice! It really comes in handy with the rabbits. Now, off to update my website with a few new rabbit pictures!

10 random facts, not rabbit related

1. Nail Polish Addiction - It's to the point where I change my nail polish at least every other day. You will rarely see me in the same polish twice in a row. Yes I will be taking some with me to convention.

2. I am a Blackberry/Mac addict. I keep myself up to date with what's coming out, and I have even watched the keynotes of Apple at work, at least 2 times. So sad Steve Jobs is leaving.

3. I am the worst Floridian. I avoid the sun, I am really pale. I hate sand, so I don't go to the beach. I hate sweet tea, which is a McDonalds staple! I actually can't stand any type of tea. I love winter, and hate summer. See, I'm a bad Floridian.

4. I love musicals, more specifically Phantom of the Opera and Chicago. Goes with my theatre and orchestra background.

5. I hate pennies. Yes, I think they are pointless, and I am annoyed that I can't use them in vending machines. How useless is that!!

6. I love grapes (favorite fruit), but can't stand artificial grape flavoring.

7. I used to have a very intense obsession with Pirates of the Caribbean. It all stopped when I heard that they were making a 4th movie.

8. I can't stand plain chocolate. It has to have something else in it, like peanut butter, caramel, or anything else. I can't eat a lot of plain chocolate, it makes me feel sick.

9. I want to start making my own scented candles.

10. This is something that a lot of people on RA know, but I figured I would say it here. I am 4'11". No, I am not legally a midget, but I am really short.

So, that's 10 random facts about me, not too interesting, but good enough =)

New graphic

In honor of my previous post about Marshmallow, I decided to make a logo with her as the bunny of honor!

She is so pretty. Will be even prettier when her coat comes in ❤

One thing I don't like, when you preview it with a black background, you can tell how obvious the background is when I feathered the cut image. Oh well, no biggie

A tale of a burnt Marshmallow

I get funny looks every time I pull out my black home grown. I mean, every single time! I didn't think it was so weird to have a black rabbit named after a fluffy white yummy food. But, I suppose it is. So, how did Marshmallow get her name? Let's start from the beginning.

Marshmallow was a singleton, her mom had 2 babies, one of which was a peanut that died shortly after I found them. I almost lost Marshmallow, she was hiding in the hay at the bottom of the nestbox. I had no idea she was there. I stood there, in really cold January weather. I was looking at the nestbox, my body half in the cage (it's a pretty big cage),  after burying the peanut. I saw a piece of hay move. I watched it, making sure I didn't touch anything. It moved again. I dove into the box, and found this little baby bunny, and put her on top of the hay, and covered her with fur. She eventually squirmed over to the corner that would soon become her little space for the next 2 weeks. She never left that corner.

Being a singleton has several issues. I should have taken a rabbit out of the other does cage to be her cuddle buddy, but I didn't. Luckily Night is a VERY good mother. Did I say VERY? I meant to say VEEEEEERY good mother. Not only was she warm during this cold week, but she was fat. Very fat.
15 days old

So, what int he world does all this have to do with her name? Well, because of her chubby-ness, she quickly got the nickname little chubby, or chubby bunny. When she got older, my husband and I were trying to think of a name for her. Eventually, we came up with Marshmallow. It was inspiration derived from her old chubby bunny persona, and the game; chubby bunny. That's it, nothing else really went into her name. She isn't fat anymore, she evened out, and has turned into quite a nice rabbit.

My first ever homegrown to be shown, first ever to win a leg (3 to be exact, as a jr), and she needs only one more as a senior to become my first ever GC homegrown. She is so sweet, and means so much to me.

Love forever

There is one person in my life that I truly have to thank for supporting me in my rabbit addiction. He'll probably never see this, but I still want to say it.

Most guys are very apprehensive about the idea of their girlfriend/wife showing rabbits. Spencer did think it was weird at first, but after I convinced him to go, he did seem to start showing an interest in showing. For his birthday (18th, I believe) I bought him his own rabbit at a show, an American Fuzzy Lop, he named Cookies and Cream:

He fell in love with this adorable baby, and I think at that point, he knew he was stuck with rabbits forever.

Up until this year I have had nothing but bad luck with litters. In the 4 years I have been breeding, only 2 litters were born, none of which survived. Then in December of '10 I let Spencer take charge, and one month later, I have 2 litters! One of which was Marshmallow, the love of my bunny life! Since then, he has been in charge of the breedings, and we talk about who would work together, and he suggests combinations, and when we should breed. That was a major change in my herd, one that I honestly blame on him.

Not only does he help organize the breedings, he also helps me decide my POL! He's slowly learning how to pose the Woolies, and what to look for, and in the end we choose, together, which one we are keeping.

It really is hard to explain how he has impacted my life.

Happy anniversary Spencer. Together 3 years, married for 6 months ♥

Surprise! Not really..

I really wasn't planning on updating today, I do want to share that I added a Twitter widget at the bottom, on the side bar. Personally, I think Twitter is pointless unless you're someone famous (I, obviously, am not). But, why not use it to send quick updates about what's going on, rather than sending it my Fabebook, or updating here. Less annoying, if you ask me. Maybe this will motivate me to actually update too.. Well see!

Also, I changed the logo around, and I like this one a lot better!
Ok, now I'm done! Good night everyone, and dream of fluffy bunnies tonight. ♥

Problem = fixed

Before you read on, I would like to ask you to read this post first: Click Me! It'll explain what I'm talking about in this blog post.

Ok, now that you've read it, here's an update!

We decided to take the whole bottom part of that cage out, and replace it with new wire. We will also be replacing the other 2 cages in the stacker as well as time goes on.

Here are some pictures, since explaining it wont do any good.

Ugh. I feel so bad for her.

Now you see why I grabbed her as soon as I saw it! That's bad.

All new wire. So nice now. That hole in the corner was fixed, which you will see in a second.

You can see where the bottom of the case was connected to the wire. It rotted off all of strips.. Spencer broke them off since they were coming off anyways. I don't know why it was so bad! As you can see by the first picture the only pile she had was a little one I missed. She never had a pile ever, that's just where she pees. I guess years of excess pee? I don't know, this rabbit must have acid pee or something.

Now here is Holly resting inside while we were fixing things:

She had so much fun being on the couch for a few hours lol. I felt horrible, so I tried to make it up. She was enjoying the toilet paper roll I gave her too. She even ate her dinner on the couch. Spoiled bunny.

Her neighbors cage had no issues, Spencer checked before we decided to just do the whole thing. The other cages are fine, I would just feel more comfortable is I replaced the whole thing.

Convention hopefuls, and broken cages

I was going through my rabbits today, thinking about who I can possibly show for convention. Marshmallow is a no, she's still molting out that junior coat. :( Irish Lass just hit a molt, so I bred her. I don't plan on keeping Ziva long enough to show her, I hope that she goes back to her owner, if not, I have a buyer who is interested in her. Braden is the biggest disappointment. Ever since he hit that molt in the spring he has not been able to recover his coat. I may end up leaving him behind. Tea Cup is just a mess, which is why her picture isn't on the website yet. O.P.1. Is also molting, and Night and Holly are brood does, so they don't go to the shows.

Basically that leaves my only options: Do You Remember (I was so surprised with hit coat today!), Emma (Looking hawt), Yo-Yo-Ma (junior), and Deuce (junior). 4, not bad. I think that's the number I brought that year. Not too bad, it'll be a small number, my best show doe, my second best buck (probably my best since Braden is in bad coat), 2 juniors that I have no idea how they'll stand up next to the top dogs. This should be interesting, to say the least.

In other news, I was fiddling with Gimp today, and made this pretty logo:

Yes, I need to crop out the dead space, but that's for another day. I'll probably make another one, way better on another day. I was fighting with the program, and stopped caring about perfecting the image towards the end.  I think the general idea is nice, and it will look better when executed better, lol.

I had to take Holly out of her cage. I haven't looked in her cage for a while,  and I noticed that part of the wire had rotted out. I scooped her out right away, and she's hopping on the couch as I write this. We have the wire to replace it, I'm just waiting for either my dad, or Spencer to come home to figure out how we should go about fixing it. I don't know if I want to take out the whole bottom, or just replace that section. I had to replace a section of Do You Remember's cage, but that was just a tiny section. Holly's is bigger. I think I want to replace her whole cage bottom, and possibly her neighbors as well. I will probably make another blog post later about the progress of repairing her cage. Just for the heck of it.

This is why I want to build my own cages. It's way cheaper to repair, and build. For now, here are some cute pictures of Holly playing with a toilet paper roll on the couch:

The towel is so if she pees, she pees on the towel, not the couch. So, naturally she digs up a corner, then pees. Silly rabbit.

Paige, the cute fat bunny

Paige is an orange Netherland Dwarf. She was one of the first show rabbits I ever got, and the only ND I have left after my sell out a few years ago. She is cute, sweet, and one of the families favorites. She I got her breed, and she had 4 babies. 2 peanuts, and 1 black, and 1 chestnut. The last 2 died at a later age. I was never able to breed her because of her weight, and her weight never went down no matter how hard I tried.

In 2009 we went on a cruise to Nassau, and we went to the local zoo. There they had this FAT prairie dog:

Now, I know you're thinking "how in the world does a rabbit look like a prairie dog?
Well, it's quite easy if you're Paige!

Yup... She's a cutie. The calmest rabbit we own, too.

Aside from Paige business, nothing is really happening in the rabbitry. Rabbits are molting, rabbits are getting their fur ready for convention, and one bunny is hopefully bred. I really hope Iris passes this litter alive. She's had DOA stretched babies for her past 2 litters, hopefully a different buck will cause her to have a live litter. She really needs it, she gets so depressed when she has nothing to take care of.

Take care everyone.

Swimy Puppy

My dog hates water. Idk why, she's been like that since we got her. She hates the pool, hates baths, and hates puddles. No joke, she will make it her mission to go around them, or jump over them. This dog hates water.

Or so I thought..................

After class, Spencer and I decide we wanted to go out to Emerson Point Preserve with her again. This time it wasn't raining, so I thought we'd actually walk around with her. There was also practically no one there, and the breeze was perfect! After we eat, I took her down to the water, and oh my goodness she went in the water!

I called for Spencer, and when he came, she not only went back in the water, she swam in it!

It was so much fun to watch her. She didn't want to leave!! Here are some pictures of her and Spencer in various parts of the preserve:

And, now for the end of our adventure for the day:

So sleepy!!!
Alright, that should be all I have for today. Have a fun afternoon =)
