Goals: 2012

I've been sitting on this post for the past few days, trying to think of decent, and hard goals. So, here it is!!! I hope I can keep up with them, and I will be visiting this post in a year =D

Here are my goals for 2012:

1. Grand Champion a home bred - I earned 3 legs on Marshmallow as a junior, only needed one more! I hope to be able to Grand Champion a home bred in 2012!

2. Be more selective with my home breds - I want to be pickier with my babies. If that means I don't keep any in the litter, so be it.

3. Get started with Agouti and Shaded - I've had unexpected luck with Tans and Selfs, I now want to get started with my actual passions; Agouti and Shadeds.

4. Build more cages to house more juniors - We have most of the materials, and now I want to be able to expand my heard, allowing it to improve.

5. Stay cleaner - I'll admit, I've been lazy. This is more of a resolution, but I do plan on keeping up with the cages, regardless if my husband is there to help me with the big ones or not.

I hope you all have a safe, and happy new year! I will see you in 2012 =)

They're starting to get cuter

Just a little video of the babies that we have here. They're 2 weeks old, and beginning to explore the cage. Hope you enjoy =)

I see yooooou

Peanut Caden died last night. =(

The babies have opened their eyes =) I've been parading them around the house one by one, and they've been moving their little paws in a "put my down" way. Poor little guys.. they have no idea how much parading they're in for.

Nothing from Emma yet, I'm hoping! She still has plenty of time, I just wish it was more sooner than later.

On to the pictures!!

This weirdo does NOT look like a bunny. I don't know what it looks like

Toodles!!

Jumping on the band wagon

Well, since everyone else is doing goals, I'll do mine too!! I set mine pretty low for this year. But hey, gotta start somewhere! Plus it's a good motivator. I was going to wait, but with 6/7 completed, and no more shows for the year, I figured why not!

1. Get a net book (or a cheap keyboard for my PC), and purchase Evan's Software. I have a Mac, so I have to make my pedigrees the long way digitally. I want Evan's so bad.
Well, this one I gave up on. I'm really happy with my pedigrees, and I'll worry about buying Evans when I have a larger herd. Right now I'm doing a good job doing everything manually.
2. Grand Champion a rabbit. Oh my gosh I am cursed! I think this is a generally achievable goal. I am waiting on registration papers for a rabbit, and after that I have everything I need to GC him. Unfortunately, every time I've registered a rabbit, they passed away. I hope this goes away with the year of the rabbit!
Braden is the first rabbit that I GC. Emma will be the second, if I ever get around to sending her papers in.
3. Babies! I wont even bother explaining my problems. I just want a live litter that has the potential to live for years to come.
I had 2 litters born the first week of January. Call this one checked!!! I've had about 3 years worth of trying to breed, and nothing to show for it.
4. Place more rabbits at ARBA Convention this year. I placed 2 out of the 4 I brought last year. I really want to place more than just those 2, and be more selective with which rabbits I bring.
Placed 3 out of 5 this year!!!

5. Bring homegrown Jerseys to Convention
FP's Deuce is my first ever homegrown to show at convention. I wish it was Marshmallow, but she was in mid coat.

6. Build new cages to replace the older ones. I want to utilize the "gutter system" style of rabbit cages, and I plan on building some this year so we can use them when I move.
We already have 2 cages built, with plans to build 2 more. The gutter system wont be built until we settle down.

7. Put a leg on a home grown rabbit. This is important for every breeder, and I think I can do this one.
My first ever homegrown, FP's Marshmallow, took a BOB at her first show in April, and earned 2 more legs as a very young junior.

I'll have to think of goals for next year... I think I'm going to throw in some toughies this time, just to add a challenge.

Baby news

Long time no blog! The last one didn't count, took no effort to write. It's been over a week since I put any real thought into a post here. Finals was kicking my butt this semester. I had 4 tests last Thursday, only 3 classes btw. 2 of them were finals, one I knew was going to be easy (History). Religion was a bit difficult to study for, as we weren't really given much to go on as far as studying goes. I passed that one with a B. My other two tests were in Philosophy. One was on a book that I read that weekend prior (spent 3 days on that book) I passed that one, and the second one was a chapter test, which I got an A on. I felt good that day! Then came my Philosophy final, which was earlier today. That one was brutal. I also had nothing really to go on as far as studying. I think I got a B though... That class was hard.

So, while all this school shmuck was going on, we had a litter born on the 5th! Yes, A litter. Night had 4 babies, one being a peanut that is still alive to this day. Poor little guy. I named him Caden. The other 3 are doing really great. One is a REW, and the other 3 are Tan. I'm hoping for a Black Silver Marten, but I'll have to wait a bit to tell the difference. Here are some pictures:

30 minutes old

All 4 babies on their second day

One of the normal Tan babies

Peanut

Peanut with it's siblings.

One week, and one day old

One week, and one day old. Poor guy got peed on. He smells

Emma is due in 2 days. I have no idea if she'll have any. I hope so, I think the pairing will be fantastic! Both have really nice bodies. Plus I want to actually have some Agouti babies in the herd, since that is what I want to focus on.

Only time will tell. Till next time, toodles!

Babies? Not yet

Irish Lass is on her 29th day, she has a tendency to be late so I'm not expecting any movement till either tomorrow or Monday.

Night is usually on time, with her litters born on the 29th day. Today is the 27th day, so she still has plenty of time also. That hasn't stopped her from tiding up her nest.

Just a quick fix. She's using the small box, so I'll have to move them over to the covered one when she has them. I had to do this last time too. Quite annoying.

All done!

Iris has done nothing, I've just been throwing hay in her cage, but no action at all. She makes me so nervous..

Happy Thanksgiving!!

One thing that I am thankful, that's rabbit related, is that all of mine are happy and healthy. I have babies on the way, so I am thankful that Night is such a wonderful mother and that I can count on her, if I ever need to foster. I am thankful for my husband, who supports my hobby with open arms, and ever increasing enthusiasm.

So much to be happy for =)

Hope everyone enjoyed their day, and good luck to those shopping tomorrow. Be safe!

Hi!

I meant for this to be a facebook status, but I kept typing, and well... It got to long.

Now it's a blog post!!!

So excited, I keep checking Night's belly and it is getting bigger =) She's due on the 4th, but it's still fun almost knowing there's little babies in there. Let's hope for December babies!!! I'm really holding out for Iris. She's the one I'm worried about, which is the reason I bred Night. Night is the one I know I can count on to foster, and if anything happens with Iris, I can give her the babies. I don't know what I would do without Night, she's my best momma.
Night wasn't ready to breed when I bred Iris, but 2 days later she was ready. Should be close enough. Emma is iffy... she was ready, but my buck didn't have the energy in him. She lifted, but he never "finished the job". I'm still putting a nest box in there, just in case. I did leave them alone for a few hours, I figured it was safe seeing as how she wasn't chasing him.

Till next time, bye!!!

Small update

Nothing has been going on, we have 3 litters due. Night is a fatty, and is for sure pregnant. No palpating needed, she's a balloon. She's due on the 4th. Iris is a little bit more tubby, not much, so I'm not sure if she is pregnant, although Do You Remember did his job. Several times over, in fact. I'm expecting babies from them. Emma was bred to OPI, I left them alone because she wasn't attacking him, and was lifting, so I'm not sure if they actually bred. We will see in a few weeks!!!

These are my Wooly National babies, I'm hoping they'll be good.

Cage decorations: After the fact

You may remember this post: Blogtober 23, 2011 - "Cage Decorations"

Where I posted this picture:

Ever wonder how convention cage decorations look after convention is over?

Well, this is how they looked:

Espresso beheaded her's, Irish Lass decided her's needed its appendix removed, and must have forgotten which side it's on. Emma waited till the last 2 days to eat hers, Deuce nibbled on his card, and thought that the bow was too girly for him. Do You Rememver didn't touch his, and decided he liked the way it looked.

Oh bunnies, you are so silly sometimes.

Photoshoot!!

I decided to take come pictures outside yesterday. Some of them turned out so cute! I had Spencer stand near the gate, just in case anyone wanted a little bit more freedom. Luckily they were all very cooperative when it was time to go back inside.

I really wanted pictures to use for my website and this blog's banner. Here are the cutest pictures from each of my models:

Marshmallow

Zeek

OPI

Cookies and Cream

Final product:

I love love LOVE this font. It's called "assign".

Clearly the typo where I put a u instead of a y has been fixed, this was the picture I had before I added the gap to center the banner more. =)

Convention video

This is a video compiled of footage that I took while at convention. I had been meaning to make a video to this song, and convention seemed perfect! There are parts I would have liked to cut out, but I didn't have enough usable footage to do so (blurry, shaky, etc.).

Song information:
   Ohio by Honey Honey
   Album: Billy Jack
Download the song for free here: http://honeyhoneyband.com/news/28661

I've been trying to breed, but so far only one pair have actually been successful. My does are less than willing, and m bucks are now shy of the table. At least the pair that I really wanted to breed did their job. Hopefully we'll have one more litter coming up, and it will be PP's Do You Remember x PP's Irish Lass again. Let's hope for the best with Iris.

Convention comes to an end

As convention comes to a close, I can't help but feel happy that it's over. I really do miss home, and Spencer. Most of all, I'm ready to breed! I have 4 breedings planned, so I have to start soon!

I took one last picture of the beautiful tree, as it starts to loose it's leaves. It's amazing at how the leaves change so much here. Back home, it's always green.

Check out is tomorrow, and that means it's the last day for pictures, and video!!! I hope to make a video form convention, so let's see how long that takes me.

Blogtober 29, 2011 - "Almost Judging"

Tomorrow is judging day, boy am I nervous! I will be there super early, my friend is writing for the Himalayans, and she's taking me.

I bought my mom a Polish. I hope he can be a solid herd buck.

I've been meaning to blog everyday I'm here, but I am so overwhelmed with how much there is to type about, that it's hard to start a blog! I don't know where to begin. Naturally, the longer I wait, the more stuff there is, so I figured one LOOOOOOOOOONG post after I get settled back home will do just fine. I am updating pictures on my Facebook page if you want to look: Click Me!!

I update that daily. So, I guess toodles until tomorrow! It's judging, so I'm assuming I will be updating with placings, and what not.

Blogtober 27, 2011 - "Indanapolis: Check!"

Well, we're in Indianapolis. Unfortunately it's almost midnight, and I'm uber tired. Expect lots of updates, and a run down of events!

For now, enjoy this lovely photo I took outside of the fair grounds.

Till tomorrow, toodles!

Blogtober 25, 2011 - "Packing Supervisor"

You know what's worse than packing? Other than figuring out what you want to wear the next day, when all the good clothes are being packed away for the trip (if you understand this dilemma, you feel my pain). I'm talking about being watched while you pack. Not a simple check up, NO. I'm talking about having your own personal supervisor!

You may be thinking; "Kristina, but your mom is only trying to help". No she isn't! Why is she not helping? Because she isn't my supervisor. Think smaller. More K-9ish. Smaller. Smaller again. A wee bit smaller. Smaller than the average sized Chihuahua.

What do you get?

This thing:

I was on the RA chat with Tessa when this picture was taken

Ugh. I can do it myself, Kloe. Thank you!

All jokes aside, I did manage to pack 80% of what I plan on taking. The rest of it will be finished tomorrow. I am so excited, and yet so nervous!!!!

Spencer is looking for my sneakers as I type. Which have gone MIA. Figures.. I don't want my toes to freeze! They are important to me.

So, not much else to say.. My tattoo turned out to be 3 dots.. the third is light, and wont be going away anything soon. Actually! Here's a picture:

Yup yup. That will be there for a few years.

Ok! Seriously, bye bye till tomorrow. I will try to update on the road. I can't promise how well that is going to work out... I've never updated through my phone before!

Blogtober 24, 2011 - "Day of preperation

As the days before we leave for Convention dwindles down to 2, I realize I really need to hustle. I have school tomorrow, so I will only have a few hours to double check things over before it becomes dark, and pack. Wednesday is going to be uber hectic, so the less I have to do, the better.

First thing is first:

Prepare the food.

50 scoops, half an hour, and 3 bags later:

Next thing was the tattooing, and clipping of toe nails. Just like I don't like to clip at shows, I will not tattoo my own rabbits at shows. Convention is no different. There is no telling what will go on during, and I may not have time to do it.

I did some how manage to tattoo myself.. 2 dots, and they'll be there for a while! It hurt. I now know how they feel, and it is so different when you're not expecting it.

I also got the carriers cleaned, and ready, the show box is all ready with everything stocked.

I don't know what else to type... so toodles!!!!

Blogtober 23, 2011 - "Cage Decorations"

I made my cage decorations for convention. The rules are that they have to be made of plastic or paper. Foam is plastic, right? Haha. We'll have to wait and see. I made some for each of the rabbits I entered. I used this foam cutout wreath thing from work. I'll show you what it's supposed to look like when the whole thing is actually done, but I only used the rabbit parts of this decoration thing. I know, so wonderful at explaining things!

I tried to decorate each differently, but I ran into a few problems with the feet and hands, as you can see.

I used my old business cards to write the names on it.

They will be attached to the cage using zip ties. I really like how they turned out. I have one rabbit decoration left, and the only rabbit that's allowed to not go is Espresso. Tea Cup would be her replacement, and she's the only replacement I have.

Till tomorrow, toodles!

Tomorrow's Checklist

Spencer has the day off tomorrow, so here is what I plan on doing:

1. Deworm all the rabbits
2. Clean all the cages
3. Clean the carriers that are going to convention thoroughly
4. Hunt down all my water bottles (some have poofed)
5. Figure out what I want to buy at convention
6. Relax

Let's see what actually gets done!

Blogtober 22, 2011 - "Convention Thoughts"

As convention draws near, so does my nerves. I am so afraid I'm going to forget something!!! I bought oats and sunflower seeds for the rabbits today. I hope it helps, idk if it's too late or not. We also got the topper for the truck, so they will all be safe. I have been eyeing everyone's coat, and so far no one has started molting. Of course, that can change any minute.

I am just so excited! I want Wednesday to hurry up and get here. I have 3 movies that I am going to put on my ipod; Red Riding Hood, Nightmare Before Christmas, and the 4th Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Those are the movies I have digital copies of, and I can charge my ipod in the car, but not my computer. Tuesday is going to be a busy, busy day, and Wednesday is just going to be hectic. I want to wake up early early so I fall asleep at night. Night driving is the worse. It was horrible last year. It typically gets dark around 7:30 or 8 here, but on the way home it was dark at 5! Talk about playing mind games.

So, I will leave you for tonight... I update my nail blog, if you care. Link up top, "adore-a-polish".

Goodnight, and toodles!

Blogtober 18, 2010 - "Blogtober Whoes"

Blogtober is kicking my butt. I will be taking a break for a day or two, and catch back with you guys with new pictures of a few rabbits (Mainly Iris).

Also, I changed the background on Sunday. I figured with it being halfway through October, and getting closer to Halloween, that it would be ok to switch my focus too Halloween!! I love the background, I love cute ghosts like that.

Alrighty, that is all, so Toodles!

Blogtober 16, 2011 - "Bottoms Up"

Today we FINALLY replaced the last 4 cages bottoms. If you don't remember, I had to replace a bottom due to the wire being broken in the cage. I decided to do the rest of the stacker since I already had to repair one cage, and I decided to just replace them so that wont happen.

Here are the final results!! Nothing was broken, I just wanted it replaced for prevention purposes.

Braden, Do You Remember, and Marshmallow checking out their new digs. So funny how curious they get when there's something new in their cages!! The fourth one was Espresso's cage, but she wasn't sniffing. Snob.... lol

Here are some cute pictures of Holly eating her foot

Om nom nom

Just a pre warning, if I ever don't have something to post here for Blogtober, I will be updating my other blog. I will say something here, but if you couldn't care less about nail polish, then there's no point in checking out that blog. Just to let you guys know that I am making a blog post every day, there are just times when I don't have anything rabbit related to post about.

Ok, see you guys tomorrow!!!!
